Septembre 2011, la ville de Hambourg a du mal à se remettre d'avoir abrité une importante cellule terroriste à l'origine des attaques contre le World Trade Center. Lorsqu'un immigré d'origine russo-tchétchène, ayant subi de terribles sévices, débarque dans la communauté musulmane de Hambourg pour récupérer la fortune mal acquise de son père, les services secrets allemands et américains sont en alerte. Une course contre la montre s'engage alors pour identifier cet homme très recherché. S'agit-il d'une victime ou d'un extrémiste aux intentions destructrices ?

Biographie

Stefan Zweig (/ˈʃtɛ.fan t͡svaɪ̯k/), né le 28 novembre 1881 à Vienne en Autriche-Hongrie et mort le 22 février 1942 à Petrópolis au Brésil, est un écrivain, dramaturge, journaliste et biographe autrichien. Ami de Sigmund Freud, Arthur Schnitzler, Romain Rolland, Richard Strauss, Émile Verhaeren, Stefan Zweig a fait partie de l'intelligentsia viennoise. Il quitte son pays natal en 1934, en raison de la montée du nazisme et de ses origines juives, pour se réfugier à Londres, puis au Brésil où il se suicidera avec sa femme Lotte . Son œuvre est constituée essentiellement de biographies (Joseph Fouché, Marie-Antoinette, Marie Stuart), mais aussi de romans et de nouvelles (Amok, La Pitié dangereuse, La Confusion des sentiments, Le Joueur d'échecs). Dans son livre testament, Le Monde d'hier. Souvenirs d'un Européen, Zweig se fait chroniqueur de l'« âge d'or » de l'Europe et analyse ce qu'il considère comme l'échec d'une civilisation.
