Ten years an from Trainspotting, Simon 'Sick Boy' Williamson is back in Edinburgh after a long spell in London. Né en 1950 à Amchit au Liban, Marcel Khalife a étudié le luth oriental, le oud, en arabe, à l'Institut National de la musique à Beyrouth. En ce temps là, les règles d'usage étaient particulièrement strictes. Depuis, Marcel Khalife et d'autres musiciens n'ont cessé de contribuer à l'expansion de ces règles et de développer le potentiel du oud. Entre 1970 et 1975, Marcel Khalife a enseigné au Conservatoire National et autres instituts, et a donné des concerts en solo au Moyen Orient, en Afrique du Nord, en Europe et en Amérique du Nord.
