Chanteur, songwriter, guitariste et batteur Cedric Burnside, fils du batteur Calvin Johnson, a été élevé par son grand-père la légende du blues R.L. Burnside dans le Mississippi. Né dans le blues donc, ou plus précisément dans le hill country, variante du Mississippi rythmiquement peu orthodoxe, Cédric tourne avec son grand-père en tant que batteur dès ses 13 ans alors que son père part aux Pays-Bas poursuivre sa carrière.
